Sickly
January 15th, 2008 / 1 comment »Been sickly since Monday. Stuffysneezycongestedgroggy kind of sick. My instake for the last few days has been mostly just orange-tangerine juice, Sprite, and chicken soup… oh and a peanut butter & banana sandwhich (which was not a good idea). It wasn’t till Nick made me a warm hearty meal last night that I felt any better, maybe some soul food was just what I needed.
We had steak chunks and spicy potatoes, and we watched How To Make An American Quilt– which I forgot I even had. II forgot how how much I liked the movie, such an amazing cast. I also forgot how much I hate Winona Ryder’s character. Here she is giving the cold shoulder to her adorable carpenter boyfriend who is totally hot and in love with her (am I the only one who would cut a bitch to lay naked in bed with Dermot Mulroney yesterday today and forever?) so her selfish ass can lay around her grandma’s house, smoking weed all summer and shagging a townie.. a muscular one, okay, but still. Am I the only one who thinks Jonathon Schaech looks strange and eel-like?
I have the next 3 days off. Supposed to go get a facial tomorrow @ Prive. The alleged snow may keep me uptown in bed though. I think I still need a full day of slacking before I’ll be back up to speed.

Mourning My Porn
January 12th, 2008 / 1 comment »I was so bored @ work today. I did nothing for like, 6hrs. Last night I was up way too late playing with Gandalf (which is what I call my iMac, cuz it’s white and magical). I bought us one of those wireless routers so Nick installed it and we were both up all night, reconfiguring connections and networks. It was fun actually; Nick would be on the sofa playing on his laptop, then get up come over to me and kiss me for a few minutes, then go back to his projects. Very cute. I ended up getting only 90minutes of sleep before I had to leave for work… so yeah, I’m was kind of a zombie all day.
After work I metup with Jax @ Pearl River. She was running late so I waited for her on their tea mezzanine and totally fell asleep (bad idea — I was groggy for the rest of the evening). We ate lunch @ Bar 89 and paid WAY too much for burgers and mojitos, but the bathrooms were so cool it seemed like a fine tradeoff. We wandered up to Union Square but all showings for There Will Be Blood were sold out, so we saw Charlie Wilson War on 2nd Ave. Tom Hanks and Phillip Seymore Hoffman were great, Julia Roberts was a total character — the scene where he’s soaking in the tub and she’s reapplying her makeup after they had sex? AWESOME. She was so fun to watch, talking about “If this were a REAL war…”. Tha scene was my favorite. I totally remember growing up and seeing Southern women use random objects like safety pins and the tips of sharpened pecils to seperate their eyelashes.
On the way home I stopped off @ Circuit City and bought a 500GB External Hard Drive (only $129). My buddy J’s laptop (whom she named Eleanor) just crashed the other night and she lost everything; if that happened to me I’d need shock treatments. So I’m transferring all my data off of Gandlaf and gonna run everything off the external, it’ll free up space on my computer and keep everything protected, hopefully. Remember BJ, my old rommate? He came over today to take my old Gateway PC (whom I named Moby) off my hands, since I don’t use it anymore. I have officially cut all ties with PC life, I feel free… and a little scared. Getting rid of that PC wasn’t easy either, I had about 5 years worth of porn saved on that thing! It took 11minutes to delete and now that it’s all gone I feel like a peice of me (well, 95GB) is dead. The files weren’t compatible with Mac but I’m gonna miss all that sin and the wonderful times we had together. Thank God for XTube.

January 10th, 2008 / No commentsLists are fun! Here’s a recaplet:

WEDNESDAY:
- slept in and awoke to a GORGEOUS day
- brunched downtown @ The Diner (steak & eggs is my new favorite thing in the world)
- returned an ipod attachment @ Apple (i don’t like the layout of the new store, it’s TOO sparse and blank, even for apple)
- deposited money @ the bank — i seriously want to switch my account to WaMu, they’re so cool and easy. they’re like the starbucks of tea.
- browsed at Burlington Coat Factory (Nick bought 2 pairs of shoes and I bought a ladies church hat. no, really)
- grabbed Nick’s last paycheck from TSalon (the office smelled amazIng)
- strolled Union Square (Nick bought 2 more pairs of shoes and a cute jacket from Forever 21)
- ran uptown to Forever 21 on 34th Street to see if they had the jacket I want in small (no)
- took Nick to Powder Room for his first $50 haircut (his hair now looks amazing)
- had crepes and cream soda @ The Crooked Tree
- checked out that secret bar inside Crif Dogs (you have to enter through the telephone booth)
- got our eyebrows waxed (GAY!)
- met Karen for a bite @ Johnny Rockets
- went home and crashed
THURSDAY:
- laundry!
- backed up all my media files
- saw “La Ronde” @ Manhattan Theater Source (our friends are starring in it)
- grabbed dinner at Waverly Cafe to talk about how LONG and BORING the play was (despite our friends)
- came home and watched more Brothers & Sisters
Nick and I rarely have the same days off together, so when it happens it’s like Christmas up in hurr. I love doing these sorts of normal things together, I’m so lucky to have him.
Did you just throw up a little bit in your mouth? It happens. Swallow it.

Merc/Mishy
January 7th, 2008 / 1 comment »My buddy Mishy is back in town from Switzerland for the month. I ran into her tonight after work outside of the Apple Store in Soho, she was with 2 guys from her school. It’s always fun hanging out with ppl who are in NYC for the first time, and they’re all hotel people too so we had lots to talk about. We wandered into the Mercer for a little bit so they could see the space, then we had drinks @ Merc Lounge next door. I love that place but it’s so STRAIGHT. Like, there’s no mix to the crowd at all. It’s still cool though, I love the canoes hanging from the rafters and all the Native American decor. I didn’t stay long but I had a fun time talking with Mishy and the Frenchies. It’s such a different life they have, different from mine anyway. Going to this 5yr program at a school in Switzerland, jetting all over the world on breaks, making friends everywhere. Makes me think my life here is very small compared that others, funny cuz I never feel that way.
Felt nice to see Mishy, she’s so beautiful and leggy. Hadn’t seen her since last July, actually, so it’s been awhile. Everytime she comes here for a visit some big change is happening/just happened in my life, like I’m getting a dog, or getting dumped, or getting diagnosed with cancer. I wonder what all of this looks like to her. We introduced the Frenchies to Skinny Black Bitches, I think they’re hooked.
Right before I hopped on the train, I ordered Dominos from my cell. Nothing better than coming home to have pizza and my beautiful boyfriend waiting for me to devour them. I prefer the pizza thin crust and the boyfriend naked.

Walkie Talkie Sunday
January 6th, 2008 / No commentsIt was a LONG Sunday. 10hrs @ work and then LOTS of talking. And cardio. I’ll explain.
I rang my mom when I got outta work tonight; orignally it was just gonna be a quick call on my way to the train but I ended up talking to her for almost 40 minutes. It was good, I think we both needed it. We talked about a lot of things, some important/not, and I decided that I’m going to start sending her video emails once a week. She misses me so much and I think it might be a nice way to keep her “involved”. It’s also a good way for her to get used to seeing Nick as the constant fixture he is in my life. My parents and I had a great talk about “the gay stuff” when we were in Washington, D.C. earlier this fall (in a Starbucks on Penn Quarter)… it went well and I felt really good about things. They’re slowly growing into a better place about things, but are far from where I hope they’ll be at some point. They never push me so I try not to push them… but the videos are a good way to make Nick a little more real to them, I think.
Anyway, I didn’t wanna get right off the phone with my mom so I just kept walking. Ended up walking to14th Street, where I metup with my friend Karen who I haven’t seen since that drunken night last year. We were supposed to go to Honey but they were closed so we ended up going across the street to El Rey del Sol, where’d I’d totally been once before for a birthday party in their back patio. It was one of those places you totally forget about until you’re there again, I have to remember it for the summer. Karen and I had an okay meal and walked to Starbucks for teas, ishe had a lot of stuff to fill me in on. Mostly boy drama, which had gotten even jucier since the last time I’d been in the loop. I love Karen, she’s got such a great life in New York… sometimes you just meet somebody who has so much of the things that matter, and it makes you happy for them.
Right before I got on the train to go home I got a crisis call another good friend of mine who I hadn’t spoken with in forever. I didn’t want to hang up on her, so I ended up walking uptown till we finished the conversation. From 14th Street all the way to 59th/Columbus Circle. That’s a shitload of distance, or at least felt like it.
I am all talked/walked out for today, hence the written entry and no video. Desperate Housewives is back on tonight, I can’t to find out if Lynette lost her family in the storm. That bitch has had a tough year. Getting shot, adulterous liasons, a crybaby husband, bitchy stepdaughter, meddlesome mother, chemotherapy, and now tornados are killing her kids.
