Nick and I had brunch at Orange in Boystown today.  It was amazing and deserves it’s own post.

Green eggs & ham.

Cinnamon roll pancakes!

I’ll be honest.  Not a huge fan of Chicago.  Maybe it’s the weather, it’s FREEZING and I’m just not dressed for it.  Also, Boystown is cute but a little too Brooklyn for me.

We metup with my friend Kyle for a drink at the Hancock building, which was beautiful.  I introduced him to mojitos.

Midnight At the Oasis

I am so amused at trucker pittstops that call themselves an Oasis.

Red Velvet Day

November 15th, 2008 / No comments

I ate dessert first.

The wedding was really nice.  Nick and I got a little dressed up went with his buddy Alicia (who I finally got to meet) and her mom, both of them were hilarious.  They ceremony was held in this beautiful church kind of tucked away in a cornfield on what looked like one of those old preserved settlers colonies (complete with a General Store),  the kind they take you to visit in elementary school.  It was a quick ceremony — the preacher made sure to specify that marriage is between a MAN and WOMAN, tho — and then we were off the the reception, where I danced with a little girl and had a few UV Lemonades.  Note to self: find a liqour store back home in the Heights thats sells Blue UV.

I’ve gotten to meet several of Nick’s childhood friends on this trip so far.  It sucked at first b/c Nick and I got into a huge fight just a few hours before going to meet all of them so it made for an akward first encounter, at least on my end.  Nick and I don’t argue much at all – it can be hard to get him to talk about tense things, I sense he’d rather not even bring them up.  I’m the total opposite.  I believe it’s better to let it out than keep it in, but I admit that I’ve started doing a little less venting and more thinking before I speak.  I think we’re just gonna learn to meet someplace in the middle.

Betrothed

I’ve never heard my little sister happier than today, when she called to tell me she just got engaged.  OK, yes I knew ahead of time that he was going to pop the question but still… the joy in her voice!  She called me first, even before calling mom.  It makes me so happy.

I hope to call her with the same news some day, and that she’ll be as thrilled for me as I am for her.

Off to Iowa with Nick for his friend Ashely’s wedding.  But first we feed our bodies with nutrients and smart diet choices… for $5.99 at the LGA food court.
