"Why Don't You Ever Have Your Phone On?"

A message to all family, friends, co-workers, and other ppl who attempt to "catch" me on the phone and then get MAD if you catch my voicemail:
I am a weird little man and never have my cellphone on.
Ok, remember a few years ago, back before I joined the cellular army? I had a pager and you could leave a voicemail or text message and I'd just get back to you? I need you all to start thinking about my cellphone as if it's nothing but another pager device. You will NEVER catch me on the phone, ok? It will pretty much never happen, and it'll probably just be easier for everyone if we all just come to accept this. I don't walk around with that shit turned on all day, I keep it basically just to MAKE calls that I need to make in order to go about the rest of my day. I don't understand these attitudes and tones I keep getting from your messages about how sick you are of getting my voicemail --- it's gonna happen. Unless I've left you a message and am desperately waiting for you to call me back? you will most likely ALWAYS get my voicemail. It's a harsh truth, I know, but I just can't be going though my day at the beckoning call of whoever feels like ringing me at any given moment. It'll begin to take over my subconscious and I'll totally start checking my messages every 4 minutes and making sure that the phone isn't getting smushed in my backpak and ringing up a random mess of digits that'll shoot my bill through the roof.
My cell stays off, but I have a cuteass outgoing message to make up for it. I beseech ye: just leave me a message, ok? and I promise that I will call you as soon as I get the best opportunity to talk. Don't take it personally. It doesn't mean I love you any less. Sometimes a sprite's just gotta do his own thang.
