I tried something new today with breakfast. I SPLURGED a bunch of points I normally save for dinner/snacks and made scrambled eggs w/ tukey and spinach. Used dashes of cumin, paprika, and lemon pepper to really liven it up. I also had oatmeal but loaded it up with berries, banana, apple, and cinnamon. And I made a fresh fruit smoothie.

It was DELICIOUS! I ended up using more points that I probably should have (14 out of my 36 daily) but I can fix that next time by using large egss instead of jumbo and also olive oil spray to coat the pan instead of actual oil. I also ended up using my new air popper tonight, first time I’ve ever used one of those. Just 3 tbsp of kernels makes a really large bowl (3 points) and I gave it a few sprays of olive oil and dusted it with some chili lime seasoning. I also had little a bowl of chopped cucumber, carrot, and celery. I’m slowly learning more about the right way to snack. I also took that box of Southern Candymakers pralines that Steph brought me from New Orelans and gave it out @ work, I wanted some so bad but it’s best to just get it outta the house.

I talked TMobile into sending me a replacement phone for the Bold 9900 I got from them back in November. The unit won’t charge in my car, the battery dies so fast, the volume is weak, and the camera takes blurry pictures even with the auto-focus on. I’ve had these issues with it from the beginning and lately it’s been freezing up on me, so I’m just kinda over it. They’re shipping it out express and it’ll get here in 2 days. It’s funny, I think I’m just really mad at them cuz my bill this past month was insanely higher than usual and no one can really give me a simple explaination as to why. Nothing more annoying then waiting forever to get through to an actual person at customer service and then getting nothing but scripted answers to your questions.

Downloaded a book today, 52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier, Healthier You by Brett Blumenthal. I’m eager to get into it, I like books that have a fun layout. Also looking for a new book to start reading this year, some sort of daily devotional or affirmation – not necessarily in the traditional, self-help New Agey sense but I’m open to whatever. I tried reading The Book of Awakening and just couldn’t really get into it.

Work went good today, was really busy and the bars were packed. I caught myself several times from getting attitude with people and just forced a smile and friendly tone. It’s amazing how adjustments like that help me leave work feeling good about my day. Making changes, small improvements in the way I do things feels kinda good.

Shawn’s bachelorette party tonight was hilarious. We got to her house a little late but the party was in full swing. When Nick and I walked in, the entire group of girls started cheering and hollering and clapping — I assumed this was for our outfits but I couldn’t really see through my pink Gaga sunglasses. I went around hugging people and saying hello and they just kept cheering louder and louder, I felt like a rockstar! Nick and I sort of threw out outfits together last minute (I went on a spree @ Claire’s) but I thought we looked kinda awesome.

Pretty in Salmon.

Nick was rocking a James Spader yuppie style (complete with overgelled hair and a slap watch).

Kids Incorporated!

I went going for more of a Max Headroom/Kids Incorporated look. Anyway, when I took my glasses off I realized they weren’t cheering for our arrival, they were cheering for the midget stripper giving Shawn a lapdance.

4 feet of agressive thrusting, y'all.

Basically that’s where they took it. I talked to him for awhile, nice guy named Ricky — he’s eager to get his acting career off the ground so we talked about him moving to New York. After more lapdances and many cocktails, we all piled into a limo and went roller skating. Drunk people on wheels is never a good idea, but I had so much fun. Nick had this adorable giddy grin on his face the whole time, just skating around with all the girls and then by himself; he also happened to be the most popular boy @ the rink, every 14yr old girl was in love with him. I’m too small and odd looking for girls to get crushes on me but they all liked my hair so I guess that’s something. We had pizza (2.5 slices of Pizza Hut Meatlovers = 29 points, thank God I have those 49 bonus points to use!) and piled back into the limo for drinks at this big pub called Sherlock’s. There was a retro cover band onstage called Vegas Stars, really funny – they were all decked out in polyesther suits and disco shirts and wigs. Lots of dancing and drinking.

It was a great night, felt so good to be there celebrating Shawn’s upcoming wedding. I remember meeting up with her for dinner @ Red’s Porch last summer and we were talking about her boyfriend dragging his feet on proposing and how after 10yrs of all the back and forth and breaking up and getting back together, she was nearing the end of her limit waiting around. They were about to go on a trip to Hawaii and she had sort of decided that if he didn’t pop the question on the trip then it probably wasn’t coming. I remember seeing her at that upsetting crossroads then, so it was just wonderful being there for her bachelorette party seeing her at this new, exciting crossroads now. I’m really happy to have attended. And her friends were so sweet and welcoming, I got the sense they were thrilled to have gays in attendance. The hostess Liz really wanted to make sure Nick and I weren’t offended that we’d been invited: “I just want to let you know, I don’t think that cuz you’re gay that means you’re women or into girly stuff. I just know Shawn would really want you here so that’s why!” Too cute.

My experience on the Cleanse so far has been surprisingly smooth. I’m craving flavors but I’m not necessairly hungry. I can definitely tell stuff is going on inside me, lots of um, gross colors and textures are flying out of me when I sneeze and spit but that’s kind of the whole idea of this purge. When I wipe my face I can feel actual dirt coming off my skin, I think my pores are expelling stuff that’s been blocked up. It’s so gross and I’m still a little weak but it feels kind of great at the same time. This is exactly what I wanted. I haven’t been 100% perfect with staying away from a few light snacks while on this cleanse but I have yet to have a full meal and actually, my scale says I’m already down 9lbs (altho I really don’t see the loss on me). I need to do the salt flush again and maybe drink more of the tea to get more movement happening, but I’m happy that I can FEEL a slow difference.

Work is slower than ever this week. I’d love to just take some voluntary time off and CHILL but I gotta stick it out and earn that full paycheck. As a matter of fact, I’ve decided that the trip to NOLA should wait till later this season. We’d be driving down and I’m sure I could swing us some rates at one of my company’s hotels so I know we could afford it, but as bad as I wanna start 2012 off with a great little weekend trip, truth is there’s smarter things I should be doing with my income right now. We have a big property tax bill to pay at the end of the month and I really should just let that be my immediate financial focus for the time being. Besides, if I’m going to spend a little money on ANYTHING this month it’s gonna be on a Weight Watchers membership!

Nick is still on his holiday break and I love it, it’s so cool coming home from work and just being able to hang out talking or spend the morning together watching TV. We watched a marathon of Top Chef: Texas this morning before I came to work. Little things mean a lot, when he starts up school again and takes a job I know it’ll be hard to find opportunities like that so I’m just soaking them all up right now.

Whether it’s the grossness of a cleanse, or long boring shifts at work, or lazy mornings with my boyfriend — I’m just doing all I can to savor the experience and stay present in all of it. It’s a focus of mine.

Called out from work today. I haven’t called out sick once in the entire 9 months I’ve been there but ugh, I’m sick as a bitch. No clue what hit me but I feel like I got run over by a train. Achy bones, body fever, chills, sinus pressure, shaky breaths. It all just kinda started creeping up on my about halfway into my shift at work yesterday morning, I drove straight home right after, changed into my fleece pajams and passed out. Slept for about 16hrs straight. Still feeling really groggy today. Alternating between water, juice, and soup.

The bike I got Nick for xmas finally arrived! It’s one of those folding bikes that you can carry on the subway or throw into the trunk of your car and take wherever. He’s been wanting one for a long time, I remember him mentioning them even back when we were in New York. It’s really cute and now I’m thinking I want one too.

It was mom’s birthday today, called her and talked for awhile. Didn’t do much else today. Reorganized my Facebook lists (that difference between Close Friend and Acquantance is huge) and watched “Set It Off” again. When they got to that scene where they’re switching cars after that last robbery and T’sean dies in Stoney’s arms while the sun is setting, I just lost my shit. Maybe that’s just a side effect of my fever though.

First day back @ work and I’m bouncing off the walls! Some of that is probably due to being delirious from no solid food in the last day but also, I just got my first job performance review today and it ROCKED. Even though I haven’t been here that long, I got astonishingly high scores and recieved some incredible comments from my managers. I also got a 3% raise that will take effect starting next week and be retroactive from my start date 9 months ago. It feels so fucking awesome, I gotta say, especially since I felt so unsure about this job when I started. It wasn’t an easy transition, even after my promotion at the end of the summer I still felt sometimes like my experience and talent wasn’t completely acknowledged. Today I am 100% certain that it is. It’s a really fantastic feeling and I’m proud of myself. What a way to start the year.

I feel so shiny.
